The gift-giving activity held at Licanan Elementary School, Brgy Upper Licanan, Panabo City last February 12, 2014 has benefitted more or less three hundred (300) pupils in the said institution. This activity is in partnership with Panabo Multi-Purpose Cooperative headed by Mrs. Lalaine Y. Gepaya, React Panabo-Echo Group led by Kenny Allan “Hotpoint” Benigno, Operation Blessing, 69th Infantry Battalion (69th IB) with their Commander Lt. Col. Rodney Intal and 5th CRG, CRSAFP also headed by Lt. Col Ruben Aquino.
The activity is with the theme “Lugaw (at iba pa…) para sa Paaralan” wherein the program adheres mainly on extending entertainment, hope and love to the pupils of said elementary school. Mrs. Mylene Castillo, the principal of Licanan Elementary School welcomed every participant and organizations as well as the visitors for their presence together with the parents. The Barangay Captain Hon. Hermenigildo Navarro was also around to support the activity and to show that the organizations were heartily welcomed in their Barangay Upper Licanan, Panabo City.
The program started during their break time in the morning in order that the activity wouldn’t disturb or delay the conduct of classes to the pupils who is the prime beneficiary. As the pupils form their lines, you can visibly see in their countenances the unconcealed excitement and joy as to what is going on. When the distribution of foods (merienda) is taking place, suddenly a mascot appeared to amuse the children so that they will be able to enjoy the most of the activity. Depicted smiles are genuine and pure that indeed they were very happy because of the activity.
Every pupil was provided with food and a money bank which has an initial savings inside of it in order for the child to be motivated in saving money. It is painted in their faces that with this simple gesture it have surely brought a memorable moment to the children of Licanan that once in their childhood they were able to experience such things. Undeniably, every one really appreciates and puts importance even just in a single thing that they have received. The program never failed to bring enormous joy to children and that these childhood years is very significant to them because these are the days that contributes to the totality of a person.
The program is in connection with the celebration of Heart’s Day which is to give love unconditionally without asking anything in return because indeed in imparting what you have brings definite satisfaction and an absolute joy that no one can steal. The Operation Blessing also has provided some books for the benefit of the school which was joyfully received by the principal to be utilized for the benefit of the pupils.
Indeed, the essence of this Valentine’s Day is not only in receiving presents or love from people you know and valued but most importantly in extending the love to somebody you do not know without expecting anything in return.
