NSFA, Panacan, Davao City – Two (2) M14 and M16 rifles, 2 landmines, 200 meters detonating wire, medical paraphernalia, personal belongings and subversive documents were recovered by the soldiers of 25th Infantry Battalion of the Army’s 10th Infantry Division after a firefight with the NPA’s extortion unit in vicinity Sitio Sapdan, Brgy. Casoon, Monkayo, Compostela Valley Province at around 12:30 pm., Tuesday.
A soldier was wounded in the 1 hour clash while civilians reported that the NPA were seen dragging 3 heavily wounded companions. Troops are on its effort to search NPA casualties and their armaments left in the area.
It can be recalled that on December 11, 2013, 163 pieces of landmines were recovered by the government troops in a regional NPA landmine factory in Sitio Mampait, Brgy Kauswagan, Loreto, Agusan del Sur. A generator set was also recovered.
On January 19, 2014, 44 pieces of NPA landmines, 8 sacks of PVC pipes, batteries, detonating cords, and improvised firing device were recovered by the soldiers of 1003rd Infantry Brigade while on security patrols in Sitio Mampait, Brgy. Mansanitas, Agusan del Sur.
EASTMINCOM Commander Lt. Gen. Ricardo Rainier G. Cruz III commended the soldiers of the 25th IB for the continuous effort in protecting the communities and the recovery of the NPA firearms.
