THE AFP, THE EASTERN MINDANAO COMMAND AND THE 10TH INFANTRY DIVISION ARE READY– During the 10th ID Conference on 29 June 2015, Commander of 10th ID, MGen Año said that they are expecting more encounters after the death of PARAGO. He also calls and encourage other members of the NPA to surrender and should not wait that they will also suffer the same fate of PARAGO. He further said that, “walang taong nabuhay na labag sa batas and hindi inabot ng batas, darating at darating ang panahon na sisingilin sila ng batas.”
The AFP is not yet certain of who will assume the position of the late Kumander Parago in Pulang Bagani Command 1 Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (PBC1 SMRC) based on his image and caliber…but HIS DEATH IS BELIEVED TO BE THE START OF THE DECLINE OF THE NPA IN DAVAO REGION.”- MGEN EDUARDO M. AÑO, Commander, 10th Infantry “Agila” Division, PA
PEACE – is what our soldiers, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) are longing, not war. In the recent statement of the 10th Infantry Division Commander Major General Eduardo Año, he called for the permanent ceasefire against the New People’s Army (NPA) and hopes to resume the pending peace talk with the rebel group. In the same statement, he also said that the peace talk between the government and the NPA was stopped because of the unbelievable conditions the group has set and the ongoing struggle their comrades are waging in different parts of the country.
Clearly, a classic example of NPAs delaying tactics, of their means to achieve Mao Tse Tung’s ‘protracted war’. A war that will not only waste lives of our soldiers but also lives of our innocent brothers and sisters, more specifically the LUMADS. It is according to them, their way to win the battle against the government.
To them, what they are saying is the ideal and the best way, but what ordinary people think and experience is the brutality of their actions, the harshness of ideas and continuing love of violence.
Who then will we believe more? Is it the NPAs whose mind and heart are fixed on not settling their problems and demands with the government OR the government who exhausts all means to achieve peace? The NPAs are clearly and obviously for WAR and not for peace. Even if we have the means, the power, the resources and we are legitimate to wage and engage war against this rebel group, we still WANT PEACE NOT WAR.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines, Eastern Mindanao Command joined and participated in the celebration of the 78th Araw ng Davao. The group of in uniformed military personnel joined the yearly parade together with other contingents from Magsaysay Avenue going to the City Hall Drive, San Pedro. The parade started at 8:00 am and ended at roughly 1:30 pm. While other contingents showcase their products and services, the AFP showcase its personnel and military weapons, equipments and vehicles as its military capabilities.
In this year’s theme, “AFP: INYONG KAAGAPAY TUNGO SA KAPAYAPAAN AT KAUNLARAN,” this aims to make people understand that the AFP has a big role in nation building. It aims to emphasize that its relation with the civilians is important in the making and in the attainment of peace ad development. Since there are lots of threats in peace and order in the areas covered by EastMinCom brought by recent attacks made by the New People’s Army such as areas of Bukidnon, Marilog and Agusan del Sur, the theme also emphasizes that the AFP is dead-serious in combatting the atrocities posed by the NPAs and other rebel groups.
In this event, the EastMinCom have showed its eagerness to participate and be one with the people of Davao in the celebration of the foundation of the city.
Happy 78th Araw ng Davao!
In line with the 79th Armed Forces of the Philippines Anniversary Celebration the 5th Civil Relations Group, CRSAFP have conducted an activity dubbed as “Salute to the Troops: A Mini-Concert and Static Display” yesterday, December 10, 2014 at NCCC Mall of Davao featuring the “Fireball Band” from 25th Infantry Battalion (25IB) of the 10th Infantry Division (10ID).

Along with this is the “Human Rights Consciousness Week” which also adheres mainly on the protection and preservation of the rights of the people. It doesn’t necessarily mean that we are only going to abide in these rights during this week-long celebration but we have to bear in mind that preserving the rights of our fellow Filipinos is a mandate that we need to follow.
The “Gift-Giving Activity” was also present wherein this group has chosen the Magsaysay Elementary School, Marilog District, Davao City to be the beneficiary institution. This is to give love and assistance to our needy children in the far flung areas which they can use on a daily basis such as the three hundred twenty seven (327) slippers, three hundred (300) books and seven (7) large buckets of biscuits courtesy of this unit.
Also, part of the activity is the Jollibee treat for the children since it was their first time to step in the City and it was also their first time to dine in Jollibee. You can visibly see in their countenances the picture of unfathomable joy that even for once they have experienced such immeasurable delight.
Undeniably, the feeling was rewarding upon seeing this elementary students take plight to even the simplest thing the AFP have offered particularly the 5CRG, CRSAFP who made this activity possible to this chosen young generation.
This activity is also in commemoration of our soldiers who rendered extraordinary sacrifice for the betterment of our country. The activity intends to amuse the audience by giving a break to our hardworking soldiers from their hazardous and stressful working days. The main objective of this tribute is to acknowledge and show gratitude for the service and sacrifices of our Filipino soldiers.
Be a channel of blessing to each and every one. Happy Human Rights Consciousness Week! Mabuhay 79th AFP Day! And a Merry Christmas to all!
