MOST WANTED NPA LEADER FALLS IN COMVAL
CGMTY, MAWAB, COMPOSTELA VALLEY PROVINCE – A joint Army-PNP Team arrested a top NPA leader, who is also the Philippine’s 19th Most Wanted Person in Pantukan, Compostela Valley Province, Wednesday morning, June 29, 2016.
Soldiers from 46th Infantry Battalion, 1001st Infantry Brigade and 10th Military Intelligence Battalion and police personnel from Pantukan and Mabini Municipal Police Stations and the CVP Public Safety Company arrested NPA leader, Eddie Genelsa alias Lando at Brgy Bongabong, Pantukan by virtue of warrants of arrest (WOA) issued by RTC Branch 3, 11th Judicial Region based in Nabunturan, CVP in connection with Criminal Cases Number 6385 for arson; 7554, 5648, 5889 and 3926 for murder and frustrated murder; and 6386, 4620, 5820 and 5718 for robbery.
Lando is the CO of Pulang Bagani Company (PBC) 3 of the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC). He was responsible in leading in the murder of several civilians and soldiers, the destruction of properties, and in extorting money from civilians and business establishments in CVP. Per DND and DILG Joint Order #14-2012, Genelsa has an existing Five Million Pesos reward for his capture, making him at par or the same level with Leoncio Pitao alias Parago, the CO of PBC 1, who was killed in an encounter with government troops a year ago yesterday.
Col Macairog Alberto, 1001st Infantry Brigade commander encouraged other NPA members to return to the folds of law, live peacefully and become productive members of the community. He added that armed struggle is not the solution to our country’s social problem.
Meanwhile, MGen Rafael Valencia, 10ID commander lauded the arresting Army and police personnel for their accomplishment. He added that while the AFP continue to enforce its mandate, the military organization is fully behind and wholeheartedly supports the peace initiative of the new administration.
