84IB ENCOUNTERS ALGs IN DAVAO CITY; THREE KILLED, ONE ARMALITE RIFLE RECOVERED BY TROOPS
CGMTY, MAWAB, COMPOSTELA VALLEY PROVINCE – Soldiers of 84th Infantry Battalion engaged in two encounters with Armed Lawless Group (ALG) they are pursuing at SitioBanban, BrgyLumiad, Paquibato District, Davao City on April 18, 2016. A soldier and a CAFGU Active Auxilliary (CAA) were killed, two other soldiers were wounded and one dead ALG member and one M16 Armalite rifle were left behind by the ALG.
The first encounter occurred at around 8 o’clock in the morning while the second encounter happened at around 12:25 noon time. The government casualties were immediately airlifted to Camp Panacan Station Hospital. The soldiers’ names are withheld while their families are still being informed.
The ALG encountered by the troops was responsible for the attack on Quiman-anao CAA Detachment at SitioQuiman-anao, BrgySalapawan, Paquibato District, Davao City last Saturday morning, 16 April 2016. The ALG attack injured a CAA and civilian, identified as CAA Mario Cariaman and Pastor Randy Ramirez, a pastor of Baptist Church in BrgySalapawan. CAA Cariaman is now on stable condition at a hospital in Tagum while Pastor Ramirez, still at critical condition, is at Southern Philippines Medical Center.
MGen Rafael Valencia, 10ID commander said, “The 10ID will relentlessly use legitimate force against the ALGs and bring them before the bar of justice.” He further thanked the concerned citizens who are providing vital information to the military and assured the public that operations will continue until the ALGs finally abandon the armed struggle and live peacefully and meaningfully with the rest of the Filipino people.
