To celebrate the Labor Day on May 1 is also to commemorate the fall, closure, and cessation of business operations of the companies in our country.
In most cases, cessation of business of some companies is based, if not pushed by work stoppage of its employees. Community, highfalutin demands are the cause of this stoppage that sensibly result to company’s losses, and worse, bankruptcy, and the result is – massive unemployment.
The example of this is the closure of Carina Apparel in Laguna due to excessive demands of the group Pagkakaisa ng Manggagawa sa Timog Katagalugan-Kilusang Mayo Uno (PAMANTIK-KMU).
This is what the activist groups want – fuel the negative sentiments of workers towards their employers through mass protests like rallies and pickets especially during LABOR DAY that definitely would result to company’s operations lockdown and UNEMPLOYMENT.
